About First Grade:
The
first grade year is a year of fun, learning and growing independence.
We fine tune our handwriting skills and begin creative writing. Literacy involves not only basic reading methods and phonics
but also special book projects. Adding,
subtracting, grouping, categorizing and word problems make up only
part of our math program. Exciting
science and social studies units continue throughout the year. In Religion, we learn to recognize that God is an important
part of our everyday lives. At
the end of this special year, students leave with a positive attitude
toward learning and a true sense of independence.
