About Kindergarten:
Welcome to Kindergarten.
We have the opportunity to learn math, reading and unit (Science
and Social Studies) concepts through games, listening to stories, and
various activities.
We use the Saxon
math program. In this series,
the children are introduced to math concepts through manipulative
activities and then use worksheets to reinforce the concepts.
The Open Court
Reading series builds a base of language, phonics, writing, and
reading skills through a systematic way of introducing and building on
skills previously introduced.
In
Religion, we recognize the uniqueness of each child and help them to grow
in understanding who they are in relationship to God.
Children use weekly
centers to reinforce curriculum objectives.
Daily centers provide an opportunity for the children to work
independently - they choose the center, the activity, who they will work
with in the center, and how long they will work before moving to another
center. Kindergarten homework
is an extension of daily class activities.
