Home School Association

Welcome to the Home and School Association (HSA)

We are the community of families, teachers and staff who work together to support the school and provide enrichment activities for our children.  There is nothing to join -- we are all included.

The mission of HSA is to support the teachers and students and to care for the school building and grounds.  The HSA contributes $15,000 annually to the school’s operating budget.  The remainder of HSA funds is used to provide the following programs and activities:

bullet Blue Ribbon Series:  A program of 4-6 cultural and artistic enrichment programs for students
bullet Teacher Grants:  Funds provided to teachers each year to purchase instructional materials.
bullet Professional Development:  Funds provided to teachers for training and professional development activities
bullet Catholic Schools Week:  A week-long celebration of Catholic education
bullet Christmas Village:  Students have the opportunity to purchase inexpensive Christmas gifts for their friends and family.
bullet Oktoberfest:  A fall festival at Blessed Sacrament Church with food, games, and the infamous “Haunted Hall”
bullet Field Day: End-of-year event for students to participate in a full day of outdoor activities with lunch provided by HSA
bullet Landscaping:  Parent volunteers plan and execute projects to maintain and beautify the school grounds

HSA also coordinates a variety of other programs, including:

bullet SCRIP:  Fundraising program through which families purchase gift cards that the school has purchased at a discount.
bullet Lunch Program:  HSA coordinates the school lunch program with our outside vendor, Aramark.
bullet Uniform Swap & Shop:  Gently used uniforms for trade or purchase
bullet Teacher Lunches:  A meal organized each month by room parents to show appreciation for our teachers
bullet Skate Nights:  Fun nights at Roll About skating rink just for Blessed Sacrament families
bullet Dining Out:  Families patronize area restaurants and the school receives a portion of the profits
bullet Annual Auction:  Blessed Sacrament School’s primary fundraiser of the year, which includes a silent and live auction
bullet Box Tops for Education: Collect and submit box tops from General Mills to earn money for our school
bullet Room Parents:   Liaise with teachers to plan classroom parties and teacher lunches, collect contributions for auction baskets and coordinate parent volunteers throughout the year

HSA Needs Your Help

Blessed Sacrament School has always been blessed with families who are generous with their time and financial support.  Among the reasons that our school is so successful, parent involvement is one of the most important. Without your support, we could not provide all of these programs and activities for our children.

This year we will again ask each family to contribute $75 to HSA to fund our programs and support the school’s operating budget.  You can meet this request through a direct payment to HSA or through your participation in the SCRIP program (with no additional cost to you -- details provided later).

HSA also provides opportunities for you to become more involved in Blessed Sacrament School.  We need volunteers to be room parents, HSA officers and committee members.  We also need volunteers to help with specific events and activities including Oktoberfest, Christmas Village, the auction, Catholic Schools Week and more!

Below you will find a list of HSA officers and committee heads. These volunteers are waiting for your call! You should also feel free to contact your child’s teacher or room parent.  Together, we can make this year at Blessed Sacrament School the best year yet.

SCRIP Program

SCRIP is a year-round fundraiser through which our school earns money when you purchase gift cards from the HSA.  You purchase the gift cards at full face value and use them in stores you are already frequenting.  The HSA makes a profit because we are able to purchase the gift cards at a discounted rate.

All of the profit goes to HSA up until the point that your family meets the $75 requested contribution.  After that, half the profit continues to go to the HSA and you determine where the other half goes:  the HSA, Faith Development, Blessed Sacrament Church, the tuition assistance fund or directly to you to use towards tuition reduction.

To sign-up for the SCRIP program, you simply fill out a registration form. A SCRIP order form is included in every “What's Up Wednesday” newsletter.  Just send your order form and check to the school by Monday. We will send your gift cards home with your child the following Wednesday. We also sell scrip at the school in the mornings from 7:45-8:15 and at Blessed Sacrament Church after the 5pm mass on Saturday and 8, 9:30 and 11am masses on Sunday.

Every year our school faces the same dilemma - - meeting needs that go beyond what the budget provides.  We want to keep school tuition low, and yet we want to give our children and teachers every opportunity. SCRIP is an easy, hassle-free fundraising program.  By combining our spending dollars, we can create a powerful source of revenue for our children, the school, and the programs that will make a difference.
