Introduction

Lighthouses have been around for centuries. They are used to help ships navigate through the rough water and hidden sandbars. Lighthouses are very useful at night, when it is storming, and when it is foggy. There are many different types of lighthouses in North Carolina and the first one was built in 1803. For example the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, standing at 191 ft., is the tallest lighthouse in the USA. As you progress in this project, you will find more and more interesting facts about lighthouses. Have fun!
