Introduction

Rhyming is a fun way to use words in songs, poems, and stories.  We will find rhyming patterns in word families. Enjoy using word families and nursery rhymes as we sing, read and play through this quest.
 


The Task

Play the rhyming game "Miss Mary Mack".

Sing favorite nursery rhymes.

Play a word family rhyming game.

Create your own rhyme using a word family. 


The Process

  DAY 1:                                        

1.      Click on the following link Miss Mary Mack Clapping Game

2.    Follow the directions and play the clapping game “Miss Mary Mack” with your buddy.

3.    Write down 3-5 rhyming words in the word family “ack”.

  DAY 2:  

1.      Click on the following nursery rhyme page HPD's Nursery Rhyme Page

2.    Choose a favorite nursery rhyme to read.   Read the rhyme to/with your buddy and sing along with the music.

3.    Choose from one of the three matching games found on the following page:

4. Print this page and complete the activity.

  DAY 3:          

1.  Click on the following website: The Little Animals Activity Centre

2.  Begin with Level 1. (Once you have successfully completed Level one you may move on.) 

3. Play the game with your buddy. Be sure to turn up the volume on your computer. Have Fun!

  DAY 4:                                                  

1.      Click on the following website: Mrs. Alphabet

2.    Choose and click on one of the word families listed.

3.    Read the word family words with/to your buddy.

4.    Read the rhyme that goes with the word family.

5.    Can you create your own rhyme using the word family words? Write a list of the words found in your chosen word family. Use these words to create a rhyme.
