Blessed Sacrament School is very honored and pleased to announce that our school has been selected by Today's Catholic Teacher to receive the 2013-2014 Innovations in Catholic Education Award in the category of curriculum and instruction based on our school's STREAM Initiative. The award is presented to twelve Catholic schools in the nation that demonstrate exemplary innovative programs to improve the teaching and learning of their students, faculty, and staff.

STEM certification, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM is a growing trend in education since 21st
century jobs are expected to require those skills. At Blessed Sacrament they decided to add Art and Religion to make it a STREAM school to recognize the importance of art education and the school’s religious foundation.
Unlike many curricular reforms these days, this was an in-house creation.
“Because the way we learned is different from how these kids are learning in the 21st century,” said Principal Maria Gomez.
A representative from the United States Green Building Council presented a $500 USGBC Piedmont Triad Green School grant Monday, September 24 at 7:45am to Blessed Sacrament School’s 7th grade AYLA (Alamance Youth Leadership Academy) students. Through discussion and problem solving strategies the students and their advisors set goals and prepared an “Operation Green” sustainability action plan for recycling and improved air quality in classrooms.
We are thrilled to announce that BSS alum Victoria Gonzalez has published her first fictional book, "Guardians of the Gate: The Disappearance of Code". Victoria graduated in May from BSS and will attend Bishop McGuinness High School in the fall. We are so very proud of you Victoria!!
